John Muir once said, the power of imagination makes us infinite. As someone who achieved so much and lived such a full life, he must have been onto something. Recently I've been feeling like I'm in a rut of sorts, with little to no motivation to get outside or to be creative. I'd been seeing the power of visualisation floating around the internet, so decided to make some goals for the year in a little book I could keep with me.

I gathered some craft supplies, sat down with some incense burning, and decided to think about what I wanted to attract to my life. Some of the things I decided upon are more trivial than others, but the purpose of this isn't to be meaningful and deep all of the time, it is just what I personally want!

If you'd like to make one of these little books of your own, read on!

First of all I chose my paper. I knew I wanted to use watercolour paints, so I chose thick durable paper. I cut it down into small rectangles, folded them all in half, and popped them together. I then took a thick needle and some embroidery floss, and bound the pages together. It's very simple - just make three holes in the spine, then thread the floss through the middle one, the top one, the bottom one, then back through the middle one. Secure with a knot.

I then found some inspiring images online from Pinterest and Instagram, printed them off, and starting making the book! I painted the front cover and stuck on some ephemeral from a Project Life kit I have along with a photo I printed off.

I then decorated each page, with what I wanted to welcome into my life! You can go as fancy as you like with this bit, or go for a more minimal look if that's your thing. I found it really therapeutic to just sit down and focus on this for a while, and would definitely recommend making one of your own.
