D.I.Y Bath Salts

I love baths - they are my preferred way to relax and unwind after a busy day. I'm guilty of sitting my laptop on a storage box (away from the bath!) and watching Netflix until I'm all wrinkly. The problem with baths for me is that I have sensitive skin, and a lot of store bought bathing products irritate my skin. This is where these D.I.Y bath salts come in! They are perfect to make whenever you have some spare time, and a great to give as a gift. They are also quite cheap to make, so I'll be making a large batch this Christmas to give as presents.
To make these scented bath salts, you will need the following:

- BATH SALTS
- ESSENTIAL OIL/S
- DRIED FLOWERS (OPTIONAL)
- A BOWL/JUG
- A SPOON
- CONTAINER/PACKAGING
- DECORATIONS (OPTIONAL)
First of all you need to add your bath salts to your bowl or jug. I like to use dead sea salt, which is perfect for my sensitive skin. I ordered this 1kg bag on Amazon for £2.50! If you plan on making gifts, I'd suggest ordering a couple or a larger size.
Then, add 15-20 drops of essential oil to the bath salts. This is my preference, but if you would like a less/more intense smell, just adjust accordingly. In this batch I used tea-tree oil due to its antibacterial properties, as it is perfect for acne prone skin. You can mix different essential oils to create different scents and different benefits, for example lavender is very soothing which is great to have before bed. You can find a pack of 6 essential oils on Amazon for only £8, or if you know what scent you prefer you can buy a single bottle for less.

Next you can add dried flowers/buds - this is completely optional, I just love the extra scent these dried lavender buds add, and they also look very pretty! I only add a small amount, as they can be a pain to clean after the bath. I got mine from Amazon for £2.

Mix all of this together thoroughly, until they are combined well and evenly. Then, take whatever container or packaging you desire, and add the bath salts. I like to use these little paper bags when I make gifts, and for myself I use a jar as it's bigger and the bath salts keep better for longer.

Finally you get to decorate! I use stickers, washi tape, pens, and anything else I can find. It is really fun to get creative with this - on these I used some stickers and sticky notes I purchased on a recent trip to Toronto.
That's it! Such a simple DIY, but a really lovely gift for anyone (including yourself!). Once you have bought the base items, you can change up the ingredients to make all kinds of bath salts!
